Picozan Syrup is a contact stimulant laxative which is prescribed for treatment of constipation and for preparing large bowel before surgery or colonoscopy. It comprises sodium picosulfate as active compound having chemical formula C18H13Nna2O8S2 and molecular weight of 481.409 g/mol. Upon ingestion, this syrup gets metabolized by bacteria present in gut and convert it into DPM, BPHM. Picozan Syrup also increases peristalsis in gut and makes feces excretion easy. Drinking of large amount of clear fluid is often suggested to compensate dehydration that might result with use of this syrup.
